The Pykayaka Xikrin have never wanted Belo Monte, but with the project already underway, this village has become resigned to the project’s inevitability and are beginning to adapt their changing way of life.
Part II: Poti-Kro Village
The Poti-Kro Xikrin oppose the project and always have. This village has never stopped fighting the Belo Monte dam. But tribal leaders say that without a unified voice, their tribe has very few options to stop the project. They say the company building the dam has tried to divide the other villages to push the project through.
